The Pro LoRa Add-on is Shelly’s professional DIN rail-mounted LoRa communication expansion module, specifically designed for Shelly Pro series devices. The add-on enables wireless communication over distances of up to 5 km in open areas, making it ideal for large-scale building automation, industrial, agricultural, or municipal systems.

LoRa technology provides stable and reliable communication with extremely low power consumption, even in locations where traditional Wi-Fi or Zigbee networks are no longer effective. The Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on is specifically engineered for long-range communication, making it perfect for monitoring and controlling remote pumps, public lighting systems, irrigation systems, or industrial equipment.

One of the module’s key advantages is galvanic isolation, which ensures safer and more stable operation in industrial or electrically noisy environments. Thanks to the SMA antenna connector, the included antenna can be mounted outside a metal cabinet or replaced with a higher-gain antenna for improved stability and range.

The Shelly Pro LoRa Add-on supports AES-CCM encrypted communication as well as unicast, multicast, and broadcast addressing using the Shelly Protocol. The system also supports one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, and many-to-many network topologies, allowing larger automation systems to be deployed easily.

Thanks to Shelly’s advanced scripting capabilities, LoRa communication can be fully customized. Shelly Pro devices can simultaneously function as automation controllers and LoRa communication nodes, eliminating the need for separate gateways or dedicated communication infrastructure.

The module can also be used to forward data from Shelly BLU Bluetooth devices. For example, a Shelly BLU H&T sensor can transmit data via Bluetooth to a Shelly Pro device, which then forwards the data over the LoRa network to other Shelly Pro devices.
